Question:

Storing new skis?

I just bought a pair of Line Anthems, however I don't plan on using them, or mounting them until next season. They have no bindings mounted and are still wrapped in the plastic they came in. Should I be worried about the bases drying out, or anything else one usually worries about when storing skis that have actually been skied on? Or should I just store them upright until next season?

  1. don't sweat it. the factory wax will do the job but whenever you decide to get them mounted have the tech put a hard basewax(extreme cold wax) on them and then when you finally decide to hit the snow, wax them again with a temp appropriate wax or universal. This probably sounds stupid and a waste of wax, 3 waxes(factory, base and universal) before they even see snow but it will be a HUGE benefit down the road.

  2. Over the summer, leave them in the wrapping until they are taken to the shop for mounting. Store them in a cool dry area. After they are mounted have them hot waxed several times, because the wax will take time to saturate into the bases.

  3. Being that they are still wrapped should help but to make sure they don't get damage from any type of temp change I would store them in a carry case you can find a great deal on them here http://snowsportblog.blogspot.com/ Most of these carry cases have a special lining that will not allow moisture to damage your skies plus mine has a loop on the top to hang them on the wall works great and keeps them out of the way.

Good luck with them sounds like you got a great deal.

Just open the page with all the ski info there I know I seen great deals on binding and every thing you need

  4. Yeah, dont stick them in like a shed where it will get too hot, but even just a dry basement would be fine.
