I have an allotment and have planted 66 pumpkin plants, I have some good recipes and will make food to freeze for the winter but would also like to sell some, as I live opposite a school it would be good to sell them at halloween but how do I store them? Last year I tried to store a couple in my shed but they just rotted.

  1. thats a lot!!!

you should freeze them, lol if you have enough room!!

  2. If you've harvested them already I think it's a lost cause.

  3. When you harvest the pumpkins, always leave a few inches of stalk on them. place in a cool area such as a cellar/basement or barn & make sure the air can circulate all around them. A wire rack is good or slatted shelves.Keep them dry. We keep them all year round like that

  4. Wow, 66 plants.  One makes enough pumpkin for a large family.  Once they are off the vine, or once the vine has died off, they start decomposing.  The ones sold at Halloween are planted just in time for them to be harvested a week or so before the holidays.
