Storm Moon to sweep the Betfair Funds The PJA Doctor National Stakes (Listed Race) at Sandown
The Class 1 Betfair Funds The PJA Doctor National Stakes (Listed Race) has been able to pull together a rather exceptional line-up of nine two-year-old runners. The race will be held at Sandown over five furlongs and six yards on Thursday, 31st May. Majority of them are lightly raced and have been successful in their most recent outing. None of the entries have raced at Sandown.
One of the most credible entries for the race is Storm Moon, Invincible Spirit’s two-year-old bay colt out of mare, Storm Lily. The young one is unbeaten through the two career starts and is in form for striking a seasonal hat trick that too from succeeding in the first three races.
He cracked into the racing career in the Betfred “When Both Teams Score” E B F Maiden Stakes on 7th April at Musselburgh over five furlongs. Riding with Joe Fanning, the two-year-old had the distance sorted out for himself while leading by two and a half lengths.
Finishing the closest was Just Past Andover while the 15/8 favourite of the race, Polski Max, ended third.
Mark Johnston trained then moved on to monopolise the second chance of the career by claiming the British Stallion Studs 32Red.Com E B F Novice Stakes at Southwell over five furlongs.
Storm Moon did not take very long to get himself acknowledged as he was entered as the 4/11 favourite of the race. He led the runner up, Secret Destination, by 2 ¾ lengths with Joe Fanning onboard once again.
He has all the chances of bagging the opportunity today.
He will need to look out for Baileys Jubilee, Bahamian Bounty’s two-year-old bay filly out of mare, Missisipi Star. She encountered an unfortunate sixth position in her third career outing after posting wins through the first two starts of the career.
She won the Betfred The Bonus King Bingo/British Stallion Studs E B F Maiden Stakes on 7th April at Kempton over five furlongs. Marvelino settled as the runner up of the race.
Her second try had her dominating the Equestrianartuk.Com Conditions Stakes on 18th April at Newmarket over five furlongs.
Enduring a loss rather than striking a hat trick might have instigated her for grabbing the race today.
