Storm shelter out of culvert?

anybody know how you would use a culvert as a storm shelter? we would bury it in the ground. what would we use for the ends and how would you get in it? SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY

  1. I'm not saying it's a great idea, but you would weld circular caps on both ends, then install an escape hatch (think of a submarine) near the middle, with a hinged door on top at or near ground level.  Use bent rebar welded to the sides for steps  I can't tell you what to use for the caps, as you did not specify diameter.


  2. if you typr in culvert  as your search,scroll down the search results and you'll find one that reads grandaddy of them all etc. click on it it shows you haow someone did make a shelter out of a 50 foot longx 8 ft in diam culvert in th dessert.pretty cool or try the link below that i pasted in
