The most convincing entry on the lineup is Stormbeam, Brett Lee’s three-year-old black son out of b***h Pats Flight. He has bagged four out of the nine starts that he undertook during the new season.
He did not start off racing right away rather went through two training sessions at Yarmouth at the beginning of the season. On 5th January he completed the 277 metres trip in 16.89 seconds while on 12th January, it took him 28.36 seconds
for covering the 462 metres distance.
He claimed the seasonal start by settling the 462 metres track distance in 28.59 seconds, leaving the runner up of the race, Out In Chil, by one and a half length. His next three races remained winless with two second scores and a third position.
His second success of the season was in a 400 metres race at Romford on 28th February after he timed the track distance in 24.05 seconds. Joining him on the other end of the wire was Aldataro Lass who was left adrift by 5 ¾ lengths.
Once more Stormbeam failed to keep up with the performance and ended fourth in the Swindon Stayers Stakes on 2nd March at Swindon over 685 metres. The race was won by the 4/9 favourite, Ballymac Pet, while Wise Totty settled as the runner up.
The trainer P. Thwaites, decided to train the three-year-old a third time during the season. On 10th March, Stormbeam raced over 275 metres at Doncaster and was through the track in 17.40 seconds.
Hr finished sixth in the race right after the training but then struck a pair of victories in the two most recent races that he was a part of.
It took him 30.60 seconds to conclude a 483 metres race at Doncaster on 24th March which had You Healthy Man joining right behind after covering the 6 ¼ lengths’ gap.
He then settled the 31st March race in 30.36 seconds at Doncaster and had Avondale Zeus trailing behind closely.
