Stormers favourites for Super Rugby Championship
The Stormers are having very good season in the current Super Rugby championship and are expected to lift the trophy. Currently the Cape Town based franchise is leading on the points table with most victories.
The Stormers are the only side that has not claimed any defeat so for in the championship and has won its all five matches.
They are also the centre of hopes for South African Rugby Union as all their fellow teams have been suffering with poor performance throughout the season. The lion’s and Cheetahs have particularly disappointed in this regard. The last victory of the Stormers
against the Western Force by 51-16 really boosted the morale of the team that really looks unstoppable at the moment.
The Super Rugby championship is going on successfully in three members of the SANZAR. The SANZAR is the newly launched organization that represents South Africa, New Zealand and Australia Rugby. The member countries decided this year to format super rugby
with few positive changes, and new format allowed all three nations to include five top rugby teams in the championship. SANZAR agreed that 75% of the matches would be played within home teams at local venues while the remaining 25% against the other foreign
teams across the borders.
While the Stormers have played the Super Rugby season so for flawlessly their coach Allister Coetzee still thinks that there is still a lot to improve to win the championship.
Talking to the media on today morning he said, “But things appear to be coming together because our decision- making is good and the guys are using the chances. Our defense is also solid in loose play and on the kick-and-chase, so I am happy with where we
are at. But there is still work to be done. We missed two line outs early on which we are not happy about and our accuracy is still not 100%, so there are tactical things we have to work on.”
Coetzee argued that his team is winning continuously that’s good but on the other hand the unit is not availing the all chances. He said that his team would go under real test against the Sharks and Reeds in their upcoming contests at Durban and Newlands.
