Stormers hope for a strong comeback in remaining matches of Super Rugby
The Stormers have reiterated their determination to make a strong comeback in the remaining matches of the Super Rugby.
Overall, it was a poor weekend for South African teams as the seventh round of Super Rugby has been concluded. Even the previous unbeaten Stormers lose their match to the Australian conference Queensland Reds played at Cape Town.
The Queensland Reds overcame the Stormers by 19-6 in Cape Town on Saturday. Not only it was the first defeat for Stormers in the current Super Rugby championship but also the 13-month long era of their unbeaten journey was concluded.
The defeat has really hurt the Stormers who had a smooth sailing in the competition. They were dominated by the Reds since the beginning of the game and could help to gain the ground until the end.
The Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has found the match disappointing for his side and said, “I don’t want to see this as a blessing. It certainly hurts, and we’ve got to take lessons from this one.”
The coach further said that we are looking deep into the matter to overcome the deficiencies marked on weekend’s clash.
He argued, “What is important to me at the moment is the question of how this Stormers side will react to this defeat. We have been in situations like this before, where the Brumbies beat us here, and we came back strongly the following week. The next game
we got our first bonus point win, and that’s the reaction I want to see when we go up to the Lions next weekend.”
Although the Stormers are still leading at the point’s tables among their other home sides but at the same time the defeat has pushed them on overall third position.
On the other hand, the Reds and Crusaders are emerging as a great threat to the South African teams in the Super Rugby championship. Both the teams has played four matches against South African sides and produced 100% results every time. The Bulls was the
other South African team that claimed huge defeat of 27-0 by the Crusaders during last week.
