Stormers overpower Western Force with rejuvenated
attack
Nathan Sharpe wasn’t enough to stop the Stormers stampede as they easily over power the Western Force’s challenge.
Australian Western Force was expected to play a close game with the Super Rugby Leaders particularly after their close game with the Lions last weekend. Stormers continue their unbeaten journey in the 2011 super rugby league and in their game against their
scoring skills by scoring six tries that always allowed them to earn a bonus point. Meanwhile their defence was again exemplary that conceded a singly try in the complete game.
While the final scorecard reads 51 – 16 in favours of Stormers, it does not actually reflect upon the show Western Force put up against the Super Ruby Leader in the first half. At the end of the 1st half the scorecard read 17 – 13 with both
teams playing good all around rugby.
It was Stormers who made mark of their strength against the force through Jaque Fourie scoring the 1st of the six tries in the game for the Stormers after 92 seconds in.
Force replied courtesy of penalty by fly half James O’ Connor with a penalty to reduce the Stormers early lead after winger Danie Poolman intercepted a high tackle on Nick Cummins. Stormers scored back courtesy of Hooker Deon Fourie try that was driven forward
by a strong maul followed by Conversion by Peter Grant. For Western Force, it was again O’ Connor with his try to reduce the lead to take the score to 14 – 10.
With Stormers attack rejuvenated they were scoring tries at which and Nathan Sharpe couldn’t have an answer for this surge, who made the record 137th appearance in super rugby.
After both fly halves scored penalties at each other, Force was able to keep a check on the Stormers with scorecard reading 17 -13. Stormers scored another try through their stand in captain De Villiers and just before the halftime Peter Grant and James
O’ Connor again score the penalties to leave the score at half time reading 27 – 16.
In the second half, Stormers continue to carry on their momentum and few minutes in to the second half Stormers find themselves with to take the handsome lead and took the score to 34 -16 courtesy of Dean Fourie try and Peter Grant scoring again.
While the Stormers defense has seriously check the progression of the James O’Connor game. With him controlled Force had an uphill task to reduce the lead and re-take the control of the game, to which they failed to answer. Moments later another try was
scored by Jaque Fourie to score his second try of the match followed by Bekker scoring the sixth try for the Stormers.
With a lead and firm control on the game Stormers coach Allister Coetzee make substitutes quiet frequently to allow their bench players with an opportunity to have a run in the field and to see how they go about.
Earlier Stormers entered the game without Rynardt Elstadt who suffered the ankle strain and recalled Lionel Cronje alongside Siyabonga Ntubeni and Anton Van Zyl.
This was their second consecutive match in the season in which the Stormers have made three changes for each game either forced or unforced. However, Schalk Burger was not included in the starting line-up that has been left out of the playing XV after sustaining
an injury in their game against the Lions and is expected to be a part of the starting line-up in next week’s encounter.
Stormers who have managed to score only two tries in their previous four matches finally found synergy in attack that have peaked at the right time big time by scoring six tries that in itself has ring the bells for the other teams in the contest as they
have attack going with well knitted defence.
