  1. i was in a storm with 20 ft swells on the 9th deck and slept through the whole thing.  Now, I just got back from a cruise where we had 8 ft swells , we were at the 11th deck toward the front of the ship and I got sick.  the boat has stabilizers and does not move around a lot if you are in the mid section

  2. Usually they're not that bad unless you also get huge waves. You'll be on the 9th decks so the rocking will be worse but you're cabin won't shake as much. Also, they usually know if there's going to be a storm beforehand.

  3. don't worry,  the ship captain will avoid a storm at all cost;  he will go around it.  afterall he has many people on board;that he has to worry aboutl   then a large ship will have their tanks on both sides of the ship and that keeps it steady in the water.

  4. It's no big deal - don't worry about it.  I was on a large cruise ship that went right through a storm, with huuuge waves and lightning... and we sat and had a steak dinner through it all.  It might make the ship rock a little more than usual, but aside from that, you're completely safe.  Be glad you're on the 9th deck and can't see the waves splash past your window like they did past mine on the 4th deck!

  5. No, you wouldn't even notice it. The ship is so huge it would have little affect on the passengers. It would also depend if you're in the front or the back of the ship. But I would say no, it doesn't move alot.

  6. We got caught in the Gulf of Mexico in 2005 on the RC Rhaposody of the Seas between Tropical Storm Cyndy and Hurricane Dennis.

The captain changed the itinerary to avoid the worst of the storm.

Most of the guests were sick the night we were outrunning the storms.

Hurricane season is July-Nov.  We try to avoid cruising during these months.

The Freedom is a large 160 ton ship.  If there are no storms, you likely will not feel much motion at all.

  7. They usually go around any storm. Highly unlikely you would ever experience a storm while on a cruise ship.

  8. It can be scary but I was on a MUCH smaller ship. You should be fine. Enjoy it!!!
