Question:

Story Generators?

Hi! I am home schooling my daughter and I need some help. I want to know if there is a story/sentence generator that I can get? My child is learning to read and learning new words everyday. I would like to plug these words in and have them make a story/paragraph.

Essentially, I could do this myself, but it would be easier to plug in the words and add to them...and have it generate some sentences using almost only those words. I have some beginner reading books from the store, but they contain a lot of words that is out of reach at this time for a child just learning to read and it is discouraging.

Thanks in advance! If there are questions, I will answer them by adding details! Also, please let me know ideas to do this in another quick and easy way if you have them! :D

  1. Why not pick the words you plan to teach for the week/month and go over a few each day - how pronounced, what they mean, writing them out, etc.

Also, new words you run across in life can be tossed in for more learning adventure.

Then have your child make up sentences and stories using those words.

You can have the sentences be silly or make sense or do both.

Have your child try to use them in everyday conversations, too.

Much more fun, and mentally stimulating than reading someone else's sentences (which, face it, are frequently dry as dust).

You can write out the sentences for him/her at first, but encourage independent writing.

Have your child read their stories to you or to the family at the end of every week or month. The really short ones at first, then grow according to their ability.

Make a big deal out of the reading - Author's Day - like the professional authors who read their own work at libraries and book stores.

Maybe have others in the family write short works to read out loud, too. Maybe let them invite a few friends to join in.

Make it a fun thing to do.
