Story Idea - Has this been done before?

Hey everyone.

So i 've been thinking about this story idea for a while. It's basically about a girl who can't see people - in place of the person she sees a silhouette. Surrounding the siloutte is the person's aura - which can be a different colour for everyone. The colour tells a lot about the people (i'd go more into detail about that in the book)

Her parents don't want people to know about this, so they tell her to keep it a secret. (They don't want all of the attention they'd get if people knew)

So has this basic idea already been done before? Sorry i'm not really going into a storyline here.

The idea of auras has been around for a while.  As long as the storyline is unique, you should be fine. I'm sure people will love it.

it sounds interesting...i can think of similar plotlines but not ones that are exactly the same.  like i've read a lot of books with blind characters and they can always usually see a person's 'colour'. good luck with it!

It sounds af if you have come up with something really interesting, something I'd love to read.  Aura's has been done before but not quite in this way.  The hiding away is a bit overdone but again it depends on what you as the writing are going to do in order to make it different.

Is she blind, but sees auras? If so, then I have seen that before in various fantasy stories, as a familiar and perhaps over-used irony. It's not a bad thing if you reinvent it (remember, there are only 10 or so basic plots in existence; they just keep getting redone). I got the impression that you were going with more an urban fantasy feel than traditional, which puts a spin on the idea but honestly I'd need more information about your plot and character before giving you a fully informed opinion.

the silhouette part is different, but the keeping it a secret part has been done with other things like seeing ghosts or being phsyic

As far as I know it's never been done before.

I love the idea and admire you for coming up with it! I'm also a writer and am constantly thinking of new story ideas.

I really hope you pursue the idea, as I am definetly looking forward to reading your story : )
