Stosur’s results so far this year have provided little evidence she’ll make it deep into the draw at Indian Wells. She reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, defeating three much lower ranked opponents before succumbing to Serena Williams in the round of 16. But in her last hit-out at Dubai, Stosur lost to Tathiana Garbin (then ranked world No. 54) in the first round. The Australian should do better at Indian Wells, but with Monterrey titlist Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova as a potential third round opponent and then defending champion Vera Zvonareva as a possible fourth round match up, Stosur will have her work cut out to make it into the last eight of this tournament.
