Question:

Straight Hair, how to achieve without straighteners?

Hi all, I'm in a bit of a dilemma here. I naturally have the most ridiculously curly and slightly frizzy hair. In fact in all honesty it never used to be like this it just sort of grew into it.

Anyhow, as I tend to dislike curly hair and of course frizzy hair I bought a straightener from GHD. Works great, love the outcome and it suits me much more. But I'm really quite tired of having to straighten it to the extreme. My question would be as to how I can achieve straight hair without the excess use of straighteners. I honestly don't mind using them, I like it, but I just don't want to have to straighten for a long time and all the time either. It's damaging and really quite tedious.

You have the thanks of another guy who doesn't like his frizzy curly hair and tries to do something about it!

  1. blow dry and comb out at the same time

  2. use a roller brush while blow drying. that's what my hair stylist does when she doesn't use the straightener.

  3. go to the shop nd have it straightened w/ chemicals professionally

  4. Use conditioner in the shower. I recommend "Pantene Pro V Ice Shine". Brush it when it's still wet, and put a Sunsilk Product into it like "Dangerously Straight". Then blowdry it, but ONLY from the top of your head. Don't go in between layers. As you're blowdrying keep brushing your hair with a comb.

  5. there's something that us spanish girls do to straighten our hair without any heat and it's called a "dubi". You have to have a at least long enough hair to wrap it around your head. Here the instructions, because it's hard to explain:

    Sleek Wrap

A wrap set is a great way to get a sleek look!  You will need a comb, setting lotion and hair clips (these are optional depending upon how long your hair is) and/or some paper wrap strips.

Step 1:  Shampoo and condition your hair and apply setting lotion

Step 2:  Use your comb and comb/wrap your hair around in a beehive or

circle, blending the hair together all around your head

Step 3:  Secure where you hair joins with hair clips, or you can place a

wrap strip around your head to secure your hair in place

Step 4:  Dry your hair under a hooded dryer, remove clips or wrap strip and

    comb and style

Doobie Wrap (Dry Wrap or Roller Wrap Set)

To do the roller wrap set, also know as the doobie, you will need to roller set your hair, dry it under a hooded dryer, take the rollers out, then comb/brush your hair around in a wrap).  Leave it wrapped for a while and when you comb it down, you will have big loose wavy curls with lots of body.

  6. Blow dry it and use a bit of mouse.

  7. Get it permanently straightened at the salon or buy a diffuser that goes at the end of your blow dryer to blow your hair straight.

  8. Well, you can always wash your hair and take a brushy brush and a blow dryer and blow dry your hair.

If not, then go to the salon ask for a relaxer and they'll relax your hair (which means your hair will be chemically treated).

  9. the easiest thing i can think of is getting it permed straight. it will cost you about 60 dollars, but i don't think that there are any at home tricks you can do.

  10. blow dry it straight but you'll never get it as straight as the iron does. You could look into chemical straightening. as for the damage from the iron try using biosilk serum before the iron (a little goes a long way) it will protect your hair from the heat.

  11. brush it when its wet and blow dry it

  12. depending on how curly your natural hair is a chemical straighting service may not work so definitely go c a professional and get their oppion many offer this service for free and only as a last resort as it will need to be done as ur hair grows out using a flat iron can be damaging if used improperly ALWAYS use some sort of thermal protectant on you hair first very important and make sure to  test ur iron to use the lowest setting if you don't need it to be 400 degrees dont set it that high also when blow drying your hair i suggest a paddle brush u no the kind that gives when u push down on the bristles and lastly this is for everyone that does ANY daily styling to your hair use a weekly or biweekly deep conditioner wash your hair apply ur deep conditioner and set with it on your head for at least 20 minutes this will work best with heat so if you dont want to hold you blow dryer over your head  for that long pop a towel in the dryer and wrap the warm towel around your head your hair will feel like a million bucks i suggest millennium mud you can set that at any Sally's open to the public

  13. good luck     i got the same problem
