Straightener on Airplane?

Question

I'm flying with American Airlines soon, and do they allow straighteners in carry-on bags? I will pack mine in a suitcase if I have to, but I prefer to bring it with me in a bag in case my luggage gets lost.

Shouldn't be a problem.  I take my curling iron on with me all the time and have never had an issue.

I'd think it'd be okay, but you never know. I remember when I was going to Seattle, they wouldn't let this elderly diabetic lady take her insulin on the plane. I thought that was a bit extreme..
