Question:

Straightening curly hair, so frustrated. What am I doing wrong??

So, I have tried to straighten my hair a few times, and it always looks like c**p. The other day, I went to the salon, and had it flat ironed by a pro, and it looked so sleek and beautiful. Well, I tried it again, doing everything the girl did. And it still looks like c**p! When I do it, it just looks like a frizzy lion's mane. It has all this weird volume, and looks like horse hair. Is it my straightener? It's a Conair. The stylist told me the type of flat iron is not as big a deal as people make it out to be. Is it my product? My technique? It is making me want to cry, because I just spent an hour blow drying and flat ironing it, section by section, and it looks like dog c**p. Please help me, if you can!

  1. personally i dont like blow dryning my hair cuz i think its makes it bigger and just doesnt help. i let mine naturally dry then straighten it.

    i have curly hair too.

  2. the thing is... you need a good one to do that. my boyfriend has long thick curly hair, and it is really hard to straighten unless i use my CHI.  you can buy it at any hair salon. they are great. and that is most likely wat your hair stylist did.

  3. wow i cant believe you hair stylist told you that!! hhahaha conair is the worst type of straightener you could use for curly hair i know if i had a conair straightener it wouldnt work on my hair either.. if you buy  Hai or a Chi straightener your hair will but sleek and beautiful like you want it to i guarentee it lol  the straighteners are really expensive about 100 dollars but its well worth your money

  4. my hairs really curly and i straighten it everyday

    this is what i do:

i take a shower right before i'm about to go to bed and put some straightening product in and then dry hair on low heat and straighten a little with a paddle brush or any brush you have will work

(leave a little moisture in your hair)

when you wake up let the straightener fully heat and do sections at a time

use a big clip or tie a section so it won't fall on the part you are working on

i finish every layer then go over any curly parts left over

i use this redken wax or brilliant brunette shine serum so put away and fly aways

remember the more you go over your hair the smoother it will go and take your time!!

i do have a question though how long is your hair?

what shampoo/conditioner and product do you put in?

also conair isnt very good, chi is better

  5. pshhhhhhhhh
