The Nerazzurri manager reveals that he never anticipated that he would become a professional manager; insists Arrigo Sacchi was an icon for him.
Andrea Stramaccioni has remarked on his unlikely journey to manage the senior side at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, and revealed that he never thought of being a professional manager in football.
The youngest coach of Serie A replaced Claudio Ranieri at the helm of the Nerazzurri’s senior team, after winning the NextGen tournament with their Primavera squad.
Stramaccioni revealed that the President followed him closely throughout the Champions League for the youth teams, and insisted that the chief’s offer to take over the senior side won him over, because he wanted to begin a new
era with him.
The Nerazzurri coach stated that he was very relaxed when it came to signing the parachute contract, as he could always return to the junior side if his experience with the A-team was to fail.
While talking to Sky Sport Italia, the 36-year-old said:
“The club won me over straight away because they wanted to begin a new era with me. The President had seen many of our games in the NextGen Series and not just the Final. They made me sign a parachute contract and I was very relaxed
if this experience were to go wrong.”
The Nerazzurri coach stated that he would have liked to be a professional footballer, but insisted that he never saw himself making a career as a manager. The tactician revealed that while football was his passion, he never stopped
studying for a degree.
“I would’ve liked to be a professional player, as that was my dream, but I never saw football as a career. It was my passion and at the same time I studied to get my degree.”
