Question:

Strange Eye Condition?

I have a strange eye condition that I discovered about 4 years ago. My eyesight is very poor (probably around 20/200) so I can't see anything without glasses or contacts.

But one night at a friends house I was laying on their couch and looked across the room at the alarm clock and I could see it clearly. It freaked me out at first because I've never been able to see anything clearly like this without corrective lenses. I sat up and stared at this clock amazed.

This ability to see alarm clocks clearly at night is not quite what you think. I still see a huge blur of the clock lights just like always, but just off center of the blur I can clearly see the numbers. I have not noticed this with anything else. I can only read it maybe ten to twenty feet away.

I have asked several eye doctors about this and none of them has been able to explain why I can see alarm clocks, nor have they heard of it before.

Any thoughts from you about why this would happen?

  1. maybe...if like...the alarm clock has a clear glass in front of the actual display it could be producing sort of like 2 images close enough together that it sorta gives it a more 3d touch to a 2d thingamajiggy. so its giving 2 images and you can only see one thats a reflection maybe? i dunno. im dumb.
