5 wk old puppy.... Howling, spinning in circles, can't stand or even sit, just flops on his side howling.... After a few minutes, he is fine again... This has been happening for about 8 hours now... Called vet and was told to keep an eye on puppy... No other options for vets due to remote location.... Any ideas on how to help this puppy?

  1. trian it when its 1year or older

  2. not really it is just a typical playing puppy but if things keep acting weird as it gets older then i would see it may be having seizures.

  3. I don't get what the H*** a vet wants you to keep an eye on..the dog is seriously in trouble and he didn't say bring it in or anything?I don't get that! I would do whatever it would take to get a dog to a vet now..I have driven hours to do this in an emergency so i get it but something needs done! Could this dogs neck bebroken or somehting/ has it been hit or tramped on??

  4. howling? well, it maybe acting like its mother or father.

wild, wolf, ect. and most puppies cant sit or stand without falling too, it means that there tired, so maybe your puppy is affraid to go to sleep, so its howling to keep itself awake.

  5. You decided to have a puppy.

The puppy is in trouble which is not hard to believe as he should be with his mother until at least 7 weeks.

The poor thing is suffering - probably parvo.

I don't care where you live.

Get that pup to a vet now. ( I don't believe he said to "keep an eye on it".

  6. I'm not sure, but I don't think that it's normal.  Maybe it's in pain of some sort.  Try pressing firm but gentle along it's body to see if you get a pain reaction.  Then you might know where abouts the issue is.

Otherwise if it keeps happening take him to the vet.

If he's fine after a couple of minutes is it possible it's some sort of seizure?

Good luck, I hope it works out.

  7. that doesn't sound normal at all.

regardless of your location, you owe it to the puppy

    to seek medical attention.
