Question:

Strange behavior in my senses.?

I've been experiencing some strange behavior in my senses lately. All humans have ten senses, we know that. But usually those senses are all balanced. Whereas with me they seem incredibly unbalanced. My equilibroception (sense of balance), proprioception (body awareness) and hearing are all incredibly acute which is probably a result of my thermoception (sense of heat) and narcioception (pain) being almost entirely nonexistant. You know like how when one sense goes the others get stronger?

In addition, I also have the strange ability to pick up electronic fields, demonstrated by a sharp whistle I can hear in my head that actually makes me almost fall over in pain (though it does take a strong electronic field for this to happen). This seems to indicate that I have an 11th sense of electroperception, a sense that usually only fish have. I am guessing that this is not normal.

This isn't really a question I just needed to write this down and any SENSIBLE comments would be apprecated.

  1. spooky

  2. It would help you if you stop concentrating too much on your senses and just 'live'....focusing 'inwards' will create a lot of paranoia's and phobia's - so best to direct the focus outwards....

*Why not write an article about it?

  3. How can you almost fall over in pain from the whistling noise if your narcioception is 'almost entirely non existant'?

  4. Try going to a reputable Acupuncturist, they will be able to balance your senses and give you good advice.

You just need balancing, that's all.

  5. best to get some profesional help psychiatrist perhaps

  6. i agee that when we lose one sense our others are hightened, hope you get to resolve this dilema and find the cause

  7. So ... you're constantly in pain?  Because there's very few places you can go where you aren't surrounded by electric fields.  Unless you mean when you stick your finger in the socket?  Yeah, everyone feels that.  Nothing paranormal about electric shock.

  8. All sense is electromagnetically stimulated but some more immediately than others as in sight (photon stimulation). Electronic or electromagnetic fields can be lethal or cause injury depending on its strength. Its frequency in voltage modulation becomes its property as a transforming force (e.g. microwaves as different from AC current). As regards the question, do we have an organized sense for it, I am not certain, but every red blooded creature certainly has the potential for such sensitivity as red blood contains iron compounds.

  9. Well, I actually learned a couple of things from your post.

However, you are aware that all the senses are coordinated by and inside the brain - not by the physical channels which bring the information.

I suspect some electric disorder - if not chaos! - in your neuronal network. Balancing/harmonizing it is compulsory.

I am no doctor, however, and you should really see one - although I don't know what kind, maybe a neurologist.

Their drugs were never a solution in my opinion (again, don't listen to me - I am not one!), so I'd try some sound-based therapy.

  10. I think I know the answer to this. This is the problem..You've been playing Runescape too long!

I'm sorry. I apologize. I just HAD to say that!! Something in me made me do it!! Hopefully it made you laugh a little. I sure hope this isn't a problem in your brain. I'm wondering where you came up with all this. I've heard of people being hypochondriacs  about diseases etc...but I've never heard of anyone diagnosing themselves with all this. You must have been studying about these things and identified with them in some way. I can't tell if it's a blessing to you or a curse. I hope somebody on here had a sensible answer that helps you. Have a good 2008!!!

  11. Assuming that you are not a very well educated fish with access to the internet I would say this is not normal.  I advise you to see a doctor.

  12. You might have migraines or something i suggest you see a doctor for a brain scan. people with tumors get similar things . But its highly unlikely you have but check just to be safe

  13. If you start developing gills, then I would say you are a cross breed between a human and a mer-person.

Dont worry, they can live in and out of the water, and they look just like us. I saw a movie about them once on TV.

Here are some questions to ask yourself.

    Is your favorite food sushi?

Do you prefer swimming over activities like skiing, hiking, or sunbathing?

Do you get aroused when someone of the opposite s*x is nearby and smells like fish?

If you answered yes to these questions, then my point is made.

  14. How can someone who says, "All humans have ten senses, we all know that" ask for sensible answers?  Based on your question I would say you live in a dream world of magical thinking, so it seems the last thing you would want would be a sensible answer.

  15. If your sensitivity does you no harm and the discomfort you experience can be controlled, why not experiment with the effect to find the energies that cause the effect and then use it to your own advantage.

There are many people living near power stations, telephone transmitter masts and other sources of radiation who would love  to use someone who can give them an immediate opinion of the effects of that radiation, most people do not react immediately to these transmissions but are wary of the long term effects which are more difficult to prove, the authorities and big business deny the possibility of any danger but the public remain unconvinced

Your senses seems unique, like water diviners or mediums etc. so why not help others with their campaigns and as long as you are totally honest no one can accuse you of being a charlatan.

I hope this opinion may help you, good luck with whatever you decide.

  16. I have trouble with balance sometimes and that always has to do with my sinuses/ears...........and I too get the ringing but not at all as bad as my brother in law.(tinnitus)

I have a very high sense of pain

And I can hear very well..........how many people can really listen????????

    a sense of listening

  17. Maybe you have synesthesia.

A condition whereby one sense is confused with another.

For example, smelling Bach, tasting poetry, seeing your heartbeat, hearing the clouds move across the sky.

I usually 'hear' movement. Difficult to describe.

  18. I have a hunch that what you're experiencing is more power of suggestion that anything else. The secondary senses you mentioned, like sensing of heat or sense of balance, are very susceptible to the power of suggestion and can be easily deceived, and are not very reliable as a way of measurement.

As far as the sharp whistle you are hearing, that sounds more like tinnitus. There hasn't been any studies to show that humans can "pick up" electronic fields which are manifested by high-pitch ringing that I know of. I'm curious as to how you measured the "strong electronic field" where you experienced pain. Also, how did you experience such excruciating pain in your head when your ability to experience pain is almost non-existent? Anyway, don't worry, you don't have "electroperception", just an overactive imagination and a little hypochondria.

  19. Are you autistic to any level or do you have any other neurological disorder?. These kinds of experiences are common in these people as a result of diffferences in the way their brains are wired, although it is possible to have what is know as sensory integration dysfunction alone (google this) . Ask your doctor about it as well.
