Question:

Strange bowel movements?

I was constipated for about 6 days, then crapped a brick and now it is painful when I "go", it isn't diarrhoea but it looks watery. (sorry)

I've recently stopped eating foods high in fat as I want to lose around 40-50lbs.

My doctor also told me I am lactose intolerance, but I can handle small amounts of milk, so I just have a coffee daily.

I think it is the complete change in eating habits that caused the constipation (from chips, take-aways, pizza etc to fruits, vegetables, hardly any fatty foods, etc).

What foods should I be eating now just to sort my bowel out so I have a 'normal' poo, every 1/2 day(s) like I did before I started eating correctly?

Any other advice?

Thanks.

  1. Boy you are in trouble, stopping eating is not going to help you at all, drink plenty of fluids, no, no tea and coffee cause they actually dehydrate, lactose intolerance can give you diarrhoea, so can milk, cream, yoghurt etc., cheese can do it to depending on how badly you have it, all I can say is the same thing I say to my partner who has nerve damage and it affects his bowel, hes had moovical satchels, they tend to help, also biscodyl will help, and epsom salts, but they taste yucky, but you have to do what you have to, if all else fails, try microlax, they are great but most people dont like others doing it for them, no matter how bad things get, I know have been there with my mum and partner, and when it happens they cant control their bowel, so be prepared to clean, only did it last week, not pleasant but you have to do what you have to do, the saying **** happens is so true, unfortunately they cant control it, so be prepared for cleaning up a mess.  Fruit and veges are great to help, but you have to have roughage so eat as many veges as you can, its easy really and keep the fatty foods away at least once a week and you'll be fine, hope this helps, goodluck! :)

  2. you have bad poo poo?

  3. lol 'crapped a brick'! sorry that really made me laugh!

I think you should stick to your new diet and your bowel movements should return to normal in a couple of days. Maybe the constipation was due to plop from your previous diet that was 'backed up' inside you so maybe try some senokot to shift it all. Otherwise best go to the Dr. I wouldn't advise taking anything for diarrhoea though as that may make you constipated again. Good luck.

  4. You are eating 'correctly', you just need to drink more fluid.

Breaking this query down into parts there are 2 issues here you need to deal with.

Fixing the pain & stopping it recurring:

    1. Passing a really hard stool sometimes makes a small split in the skin of the a**s & this stings/ is painful when you use your bowels. You can apply a local anaesthetic cream like Proctosedyl to the split which will numb it. But it It will heal by itself if you can keep your bowel action soft by:

    2. Drinking lots of water or clear fluids (not tea, coffee, coke or sodas). This will help make your stool softer & easier to pass because:

You have exchanged a low residue diet for a high roughage diet, which is great for your health & weight loss.

BUT: if your system isn't used to high fibre foods it will need a lot of extra fluid on board to be absorbed by the fibre in your gut & make a soft stool which is easy to pass on a daily basis.

Your dietary change is great. Keep it up. You will lose weight & be more healthy  but you need to drink plenty of fluids each day to help it all along. Eat lots of fruit, whole grains, veg, nuts, seeds, beans, legumes & soy or rice milk. drink 3 litres of water a day & have the occasional treat.

Don't worry you'll be fine, trim, taught & terrific in no time !

If the pain you are feeling is colicky (comes in waves & you just pass small amounts of watery stool) and especially if you start vomiting then you ought to stop eating & see your Doctor asap as you may have a bowel obstruction.

  5. eat plenty of bananas, that will sort you out. try a spoon of honey a day so if you get constipated again it will lubricate the brick .

  6. go to the doctors and get checked out, sometimes after what you have just explained , another big p**p is still up in there and looser p**p is coming from behind and that is what you may be experiencing .

that can happen, as my son was badly constipated (churchills cigar lol) and i took him to the docs as runny ooze was still coming from him, the doc told me that sometimes a 'blockage' can happen.

go to the docs as it can lead to worse probs

    take care xx
