Strange eye problem? My eyes keep zoning out while my pupils dilate?

Alright, I'm a 16 year old guy and have really annoying eye problem, and it might be the same problem that I was diagnosed with when I was 11, but grew out of. I think it was long sightedness.

Because I've got norse ancestry I've deep set eyes, and they look swollen if I sleep too much/ or too little which I've got a habit of doing. If I don't open my eyes wide and strain them in order for my pupils to constrict, the pupils dilate and the upper eye lids begin to close and everything I see starts to go out of focus. This happens by default. When I try to read some text I often misread words, miss out words and it keeps unfocussing. I might go out and see my ophthalmologist. But for now could you tell me from the information I've given you, what might be wrong with me?.

  1. Before I read your full question I thought it might be a lack of sleep or stress.  Both are possibilities.  Work on a sleep schedule and see if it improves.

It might also be a neurological problem.  It might also be a form of a learning disability.  I also struggle with this and it is neurological as well as triggered by insomnia and stress.

Good luck and I mostly suggest seeing your general doc as well as your ophthalmologist.  Both might refer you to a neurologist.  Mine did.
