He is completely white except for an orange cap...and tiny orange dot near his mouth. His body shape resembles a shubunkin, but his fins are not as ornate. Anyone able to give me an idea of what he is?

I originally got him about 6 months ago from a wal-mart store. I was told he was a butterfly koi...but he does not resemble that at all!! Fin wise, anyway

Here is a link to a pic of him....it is not a very good one, but may help somewhat.

  1. Its a stange coloured goldfish.

Nothing wrong with that, but it's not any particular breed, just a mostly white goldfish with an orange spot.

It's an interesting pattern still :-)

  2. It's a special type of goldfish, called red caps, look it up on google images and I bet ya that's it... Good Luck!

  3. it is an shipping king or gold fish.

  4. Can't tell from the photo but if it has prominant barbels around the mouth (whiskers) its a koi, if it has none its a comet/common goldfish cross. If it is a koi it shouldn't be in a tank, koi are pond fish only.

  5. its look like a shubunkin

it is certain it is not a butterfly koi.

try to post a  side view picture but I am certain it is a shubunkin based on your picture.  maybe not common to your country to have that type of color of shubunkin but in our country we got lots of that color.  Maybe your country got only the bristol type of shubunkins.
