Question:

Strange-looking insect?

At some point a saw a strange and not altogether pleasant looking insect. It was greyish-brown, and looked like a hybrid between a spider/ daddy-long-legs and a centipede. It had a flattish body.

The problem is, I was half-asleep when I saw it, so I can't be sure if it wasn't just a hallucination (it seemed almost too big). However, my friend also claims to have seen one. I don't know what it is, if it really exists.

So, I would appreciate any help in the matter, if anyone knows of anything remotely ressembling what I just described. Keep in mind, I live in Montreal, Qc (Canada), so it's unlikely to be a tropical species.

Thank you.

  2. This site has a lot of pictures of insects, so hopefully that will help you identify it.  http://www.whatsthatbug.com  Try milipede or house centipede.

  3. With today's global economy and trade, you may have seen an insect foreign to our parts. Go to your local university with your insect picture/description.

Last year I found a new insect to my area: a plume fly. Native to asia, but now in North America!
