Strange noise at night

Question

I live right by a forest, and many nights, my family and I hear strange noises coming from it. I can't think of a better way to describe it other than a bunch of crazed children giggling. It doesn't last long, but it can occur several times throughout the night. Other times it will sound like several monkey making noises. Are there any animals you know of that could make noises like these?

Ask your neighbors and see if the hear the same thing, maybe they know what's making the noise.

Well in a forest there are many nocturnal animals.eg cats(leapords mainly),crickets which make noises throughout the noise.It would be one of these that u must be hearing

I remember the first time I heard the sound of a rabbits mating..it sounds like a child SCREAMING!  Freaked me out.  Coyotes make a laughing sound that can be a little freaky.
