Strange phone #'s on my phone bill? What do say when I call?

I have AT&T and It seems like ever since I switched to online billing they have been add these strange # on to my bill. Such as CARO? Apparently I call them everyday while am at work for under a minute. It must be my cat, because he's the only one home, while I work 9-5pm. I know when I call them, they will just say "well it's on your bill so must have called them"

Any suggestions to say besides threating them with better buiness, or consumers protection agency?

  1. Like the other girl said, use a reverse phone directory. She has since edited her answer and has some excellent links. This community is filled with such great people all rtying to help each other.

I don't believe it was your cat. I also dont think it is because of online billing. What I think is that you have gotten a "free" ringtone, wallpaper or screensaver from a disreputable company. It wasn't free and it is almost impossible to get rid of these guys.  Or that you answered an "poll" or "voted" by texting a code to some company. You might also have malware on your computer and it is dialing out and referencing the phone number that you entered into a form on a website. Run an anti virus scan on your computer, call your phone company and eny all future charges.

  2. try finding out yourself first!!

    try whocalledus.com or zabasearch.com

but zabasearch is one of the best!!

  3. neither of the answers above seem to have addressed your concerns...

who cares who's number it is on your bill, so what is the point of a reverse search... also, it appears to be a landline phone as it is in the landline section, and why would you leave your cell home while you are at work....

ok hopefully i can answer better... it appears that there is a possibility that your line is crossed. advise ATT that this is a recurring problem, and that the time they claim these calls were made no one was at your home, and that you do not know anyone at the location they claim these calls were made to...

it is better if you must to file a complaint with the public service commission (or public utility commission) for your state then with the BBB, as they regulate the telephone companies, and can impose penalties against the company in terms of rebates, and fines...

pay the undisputed portion of your bill.... advise them that you are dissatisfied with the level of service that you are receiving and if the problem is not resolved permanently that you are going to switch to a diffrent carrier... and actually follow thru, find other local phone companies in your area...
