Question:

Strange pregnancy dreams every night?

I'm six months pregnant (yay!) and I'm having really strange dreams every night. One I had a couple of nights ago really worried me, I can't stop thinking about it. It was like this:

We were at my partner's old house and it was raining heavily. The pool kept overflowing and goldfish kept flowing out so I was collecting them and putting them back in the pool. They also had these cats which were prized possessions of theirs - they had necks like swans. One of the swan-cat's neck became punctured and it's throat started to come out. I was trying to help the poor thing by feeding it's throat back into it's mouth and when that wasn't working, I tried to feed it back through the puncture hole. I'm not sure if the swan cat survived or not.

Should I be worried? lol

Did you have weird pregnancy dreams too? I know it's meant to be common - but THIS common?

  1. Congratulations!

Yes it is very common. Pregnancy dreams are caused by the stress of pregnancy in addition to the hormones. Pregnancy dreams can be happy, sad, disturbing, or frightening. But there's one thing for sure, they're odd. It is very common for them to be about you, your unborn child, family members, or people you spend a lot of time around. Many people also have dreams including pets such as yourself. You have nothing to worry about. You just need to relax. Perhaps reading or listening to music before you fall asleep would prevent these crazy dreams. Either way you are totally fine.

    Congratulations, again!

  2. Firstly, Congrats on the pregnancy! I'm currently around 30weeks pregnant with my 3rd child.

Many pregnant women suffer from odd dreams. It's completely normal, you're not alone. I've read (in several pregnancy books) that the cause of the strange dreams is hormones. Anxiety can also cause strange and/or unsettling dreams. So I'd say the reason for your unusual dreams is pregancy hormones and anxious/nervous/excitement over whats to come (birth, etc)

  3. Yes, CRAZY dreams are common in prenant women b/c hormone levels affect that too! Yours are a little more vibrant than most, I'll admit. Many women have "lusty" dreams so you can expect that as well. Enjoy, maybe you can write a book using your silly dreams. Best Wishes you are almost done!

  4. You are normal. I am 5 months and I have crazy dreams all of the time. It's funny you mentioned goldfish because with my first pregnancy I had dreams that I gave birth to a goldfish. It was all wrapped up in a blanket after and I was like "what the??" My mom was there and said "better luck next time!"

    So....

I understand where you are coming from!

    LOL

  5. lol! Im only 13 weeks and my dreams have been crazy this month!!!!

In One i was holding this girls baby. I kept trying to pick her up off of the floor and she was too big for me! And i eventually tried and dropped her :( and she died! ... makes me feel like im going to be a great mom!

And the most recent one was awful! I was driving home from work and stopped at a stop sign and across the highway I saw a teenage girl with a backpack and some books and she just walked herself to the highway and layed down!?!?!?! Needless to say.. she was ran over and it was awful :(

I feel demented having all of these bad crazy dreams! Lol. I think don't be worried.. Just troubled and try to forget them! I wish these were like the regular dreams that you can't ever remember!

  6. I'd say you are having dreams which are your sub conscience working out pregnancy and birth.  I guess this is your first pregnancy, and you should get as informed as possible about the later stages of pregnancy and birthing.

If you are fully informed, talk to new mothers about their experiences and that should help ease your thoughts and therefore, change your dreams.
