Strange tales to tell.?

the other night, i went fishing, based on a magazine that gives tidal info,it stated that the tide was going to be weak all night,so on that info i decided to fish for mangrove snapper since they are easier to catch on a slack tide.well the place i was trying to fish i have only been there once so i couldn't find the place at night, and i ended up going to the pier, normally i won't fish the pier on purpose on a slack tide because normally trout is what hangs around, and as all you fisherman know gamefish feed on outgoing or incoming tide not on a slack tide.now to make matters worse half of the bridge(pier) was under water lights and all, taken down by a recent hurricane (dolly) that had just passed through, well decided i was already there might just as well stay. going home was 1 1/2 hrs away.the few people that were there left because it just got too dark and with no light available they didn't want to risk a slip into the water.I had taken a gas lantern for the mangrove fishing spot,so i lit it up,at least i had some light even if it was a bit.then i rememberd that i had a green submersible light so i decided to might as well put that in the water,so here i am on a broken pier no light,no tide movement,no wind and the only thing biting were the mosquitos, well i kid you not about 2 am the microrganisms stared gathering at the green light and the small bait then bigger bait i started seeing shrimp about 5in.showing up all of a sudden the action began i had 3 poles in the water and they were all getting hit at the same time, i started pulling in trout, redfish, croaker, blackdrum and this frenzy continued all the way to 9:00am non-stop.with my biggest catch being a 3lb trout,i lost a 3 ft trout that was lost at the waters edge, but at least i got to see the monster fish.wow. but the most strangest of the evnts of that night was the light.remember i told you that half of the pier lights were under water, well the 3 pier lights that were still hanging on to the rest of the pier their wire were cut off so to avoid electrical shock, but at exactly 4:00 am them lights made like a cracking sound and they turned on and just gave light to all the pier, and the light that turned on was the one i was fishing directly under. what do you people think of this strange happenings or do you consider it normal.as for the tides they remained slack all night long even when i leaving their was still no water movement, just like the magazine had stated.

  1. Could the light have ben lit by internal back-up batteries?  You know like the backup batteries located in emergency exits?  They were in fact the only lights out there and I do not think the owner of the Pier would want anyone to get hurt on his pier.

Well the appartment complex where I live has it's backup battery inside of the same pole that it rests upon.  A three inch by three inch solar pannel upon the top of the light recharges it.  That is what I was thinking.  However you are right that the light would not light up till that late at night and the others did not join it.  I was just trying to answer with the only thing I can think of.
