Strange theory?

ok just a shot in the dark here but i saw a special that talks about cavemen incorporating belladonna for divination, religous insight, ect... And i thought to myself mayby that contributed to us becoming so creative. the curiousity and courage to try altering our own concious. and please no people trying to disprove evolution thats a different topic.

Well, we're constantly evolving so obviously they played their role through our evolution.

It's not a strange theory, it's very likely that shamans/prophets/witch doctors and other spiritual men throughout history and prehistory took mind-altering substances.  How else would you explain all the crazy stuff they came up with?

The difference between them and us is that now people don't need a deep spiritual reason to go on a "trip", they just want to get away for a while.
