Strange thing in the sky?

Last night in the sky there was a very strange huge yellow star. Its size was like 5-6 usual stars together. And it was so bright that I even managed to take a picture of it with my cell phone.

I can't find any information about this thing.

Does smb know smth?

Ya, I saw it in the southern sky on Thursday night.  Yellow. Motionless.  Easily the brightest and biggest object in the sky.  Brighter than Venus at sunset and as if about 3 of them were stacked atop one another.  If it's Jupiter, then that's the brightest I've ever seen it.

if it was in the east direction then it could be Jupiter as it is nowadays seen in east direction

Most slightly its Venus, Venus is the closest planet from earth, thus we may see it... Otherwise it maybe other undiscovered stars that is close to Earth...

No, it wasn't Mars.  Aside from the sun and moon, Jupiter is the brightest thing in the sky right now, as it is near opposition.

Look for it again tonight.  If you are in the northern hemisphere, it will be rising to your southeast during evening, reaching its highest point to the south about midnight, and then drifting westward until dawn.

Anshgm, this is a science forum.  And isn't it interesting that no one figured out that Nostradamus "predicted" those things until AFTER they happened?  And whenever people tell us in advance about something he "predicted," it never happens.  Hmmm.  There is no Planet X or Nibiru.  Well, in a way, you were right -- accidentally.  Nibiru was the ancient Sumerian name for Jupiter.  And that bright object is Jupiter.

I think that it will be the planet x the Nibiru,Which is going to hit our earth on 21-12-2012,this fact is also predicted by the famous phillosoper Nostradamus at 16th century.His prediction till now is correct including the titanic sinking, twin tower terrorist attack,south asian tsunami,Diana's accident etc etc etc

Well it could be the moon's reflection,

It might seem weird and a little bit dumb but seriously it can happen.

You'll see the moon,then you'll see a slightly smaller reflection which is a bit more colourful and Bright.

If you seriously think its a UFO go to the police station!
