Question:

Strangers and Your Baby?

This is for other mommies:

Have you ever had any weird encounters with strangers and your baby?

For example:

I was in Walmart awhile back, my daughter was only a few months old, and we were sitting outside the bathrooms waiting for my husband, when this woman walks up and smiles at my baby and me and she put her hands all over my daughters head and cheeks and got right in her face and started whispering a prayer to her. I just sort of stood there for a second, kind of froze, it really caught me off guard! Anyway, my husband came out of the restrooms and I hightailed it out of there!

Anything like that ever happen to you?

Stories anyone?

:)

  1. The account manager at my OB/GYNs office,  first off, I can't stand this woman; when I first came in, she treated me like I was stupid, not pregnant; she hounded me after my appointments for payment when they payments weren't due; when I paid it off she tried to charge me again; duplicate payment; I showed her I paid and she backed off.  I came in again; the receptionist confused me w/ another patient who has a similar name.  I'd gone in for my 2 week checkup after delivering my baby.. this freakin' crazy woman comes after me when I'm trying to leave, drags me back into her cave of an office and starts telling me I'm going to have to pay off 3000 in payments.. After I corrected her and told her she had the wrong patient, that I wasn't NEW that my baby and my mom were waiting for me in the waiting room, she said she was sorry, followed me out to the waiting room, picked up my baby and gave him a kiss on the cheek... GRRRRR  and on top of that, my baby had just done a doody so my mom was channg him and she was telling my mom, "hurry up grandma, they hate dirty diapers" ARGH!!  As though my mom was an idiot...  I love my OB/GYN, but I've since changed doctor's b/c I can't can't can't stand this woman.  I hate the fact that she picked up my baby and kissed him!!  I thought she was just going to look at him.  God, I can go on about this.. but I won't

  2. ive had strangers touch my little ones face and hands but never say a prayer i'd be a little weirded out and i don't like people i don't know touching my little one

  3. Strangers were *always* all over my kids when they were tiny!  I carried hand sanitizer, because they were both born in cold and flu season, I'd let people touch but only if they sanitized first.  Most people were insulted and walked away.

  4. YES!!!

    Story:

I live in a big city, sort of in the ghetto and there are plenty of homeless people around the neighborhood in the summer.  I was having a very pleasant walk with my son yesterday (just carrying him), looking down, as we walked to the park.  All of a sudden this super duper SCARY homeless guy pops up in front of us....he had like 3 teeth and his eyes went 2 different directions and he said, "HI!!!!!" to my 10-month old son.  I thought I was going to pee my pants, but my son, sweet as pie, just gave him a giant smile and a little giggle.

I don't think I've walked that fast (afterwards) since I was a teenager.........

  5. At the beginning of June, my town was throwing a fair for the all the kids at the local park. I called my parents, and they decided that they would meet me and my daughter there.

I was standing there holding my daughter, and I kept noticing this teenage girl (probably around 13 or 14) staring and smiling at us.Once my parents walked up, I handed my daughter to my dad, and hurried to the car to put her diaper bag up. As I was coming back, I noticed the teenager approach my dad, and start asking all these questions like "how old is she...what's her name...is she your granddaughter?" Then, she just grabbed my daughter up, and starting holding her! She literally tore her out of my dads arms!!

My father is a nicer person than I am, and just kind of stood there with a weird look on his face. I practically sprinted to their side, and took my daughter back. I didn't say a word, just walked away...(well, I'm sure my stink eye came into effect...LOL)

  6. lol...yes I have...and ALWAYS at Wal-Mart too!!

I had a women tell me that her spirit is attracted to babies spirits, and that she is like "kin" to them.  She then asked if she could "annoint his spirit to hers, so he would be protected".  I said...uhh, no thanks...and just boogied on out of there as fast as I can!!!!!

    WEIRDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"  our walmart is new, but attracts a very "diverse" arrangement of people....I have other "walmart stories" as I call them...this was the worst though.  Needless to say you do NOT leave your child unattended in this Walmart.....  lol...

  7. I was at Shoppers Drug Mart with my daughter when she was about 2 months old. This odd little old lady came up to me, and started holding Julie's hand...and rubbing her hair... and told me over and over how lucky I am to have her!!! She pretty much wouldn't let me walk away from her!!! It was weird!!!

Also... one day my Mom took my 6 year old boy for an ice cream... and an old man came up to them and started talking to my son. The old man was telling my mom how his grandson needs to find a kidney donor.... then he was trying to ask how old my son was... and trying to ask different questions about his medical history!!! My mom was completely creeped out, and ended up running to the car with my son!!! She definately got a vibe that this old man was scouting out a kid for kidneys LOL...

  8. When my son was born, he was this tiny little thing (only 5 lbs 6 oz) and people were always in his face, asking me if he was premature. No one really touched him, but once, we walked into a bed and mattress store, and the lady who worked there just took him out of my hands without asking! I nearly had a coronary. I would've said something, but my husband held me back... he thinks I'm way too protective as it is. He was a little older though, about 6 months... but man was I livid! You don't just take someones small child out of their hands - especially if you don't know them. Who does that?

Your story takes the cake though. I mean... that's a little weird. I would've been speechless with surprise.

  9. Yeah.

We went on a trip to Kansas for my cousin's wedding. It gets a little confusing here, my cousin Melody (who is blood related) was marrying her fiance (who is not blood related) and so I didn't know most of the people. So I was pushing Lola in a stroller and rode by some lady. Lola was about 11 months old (she turned one year old when we came back) and some lady stopped us and commented on how cute she was. I said thanks and I was about to be on my way when the lady reached in and started to pull her out and I was like, "Um, we have to go now." And I zoomed out of there. I was like, No one touches my Lola, lol.
