Strategic Review to take a fast start in Monmore’s Ladbrokes Puppy Derby - 1st Semi-final
Standing in the second stall, Strategic Review is all set to take a fast start – something he needs to make a winning move in the first semi-final of Ladbrokes Puppy Derby, taking place at Monmore on Monday, March 11th.
The blue dog is really in fine shape at the moment. After a couple of fantastic solo runs, he continued the superb work and won by two lengths on February 16th. He was lucky to reach the quarter-final stage, as he could only finish third on February
23rd.
C. Allsopp’s trainee quickly got his act together, and demonstrated an outstanding victory last time around. After leaving the first box, the son of Ninja Jamie showed excellent pace, and managed to lead very early in the race.
Making no make whatsoever, he retained his advantage until the end and eventually sealed the first place by four and a half lengths. Having taken a massive victory, the July-11 hound is fully pumped up.
The draw is not a big concern for him. Therefore, one can expect him to show another fast start. And if he manages to do well in the beginning, it will become an easy ride for him.
Among the rivals are: Guinness Spark, Calzaghe Jack, Cu Na Mianta, Hannah Pearl and Cluxtons Free. The 480 metres clash is due to begin at 14:47 GMT. A prize of 200 pounds is reserved for the ultimate champion.
Guinness Spark struggled to keep pace with Calzaghe Jack in the heats. The black dog is lucky to reach this round, as he could finish third last time around. The draw is a major plus, but it is still not easy to trust him.
Calzaghe Jack took an impressive heat success, but it is unsure whether he could back it up. Cu Na Mianta needs a flashy start and a degree of fortune. On the other hand, it is hard to say if this draw will help or hinder Hannah Pearl.
Cluxtons Free looks set for another tough lesson today. The brindle dog got crowded in the beginning, and consequently finished second by seven lengths. Good luck to all the hounds.
