What's your favorite tennis strategy? (For example, crosscourt, crosscourt, down the line)

What ones work the best for you?

  1. The best shot to make in any game is to keep the ball the farthest away from your opponent when you make a return shot back to him. This way he will always run after the ball a lot of times & be exhausted & tire easily. Plus you get to rest & position yourself for another shot for him to chase again.

Your crosscourt shots are very effective if your opponent is on the far end of your shot that he may not be able to reach the ball in time for his return shot. Same as a drop shot, when he's on the far baseline. A high lob shot landing on the far baseline or a fast passing shot when he's at the net. This is a technique used by Agassi so his opponents always got beaten by him & getting them so tired after their match. But you must be accurate with every shot you make, very near the baselines.

  2. Three strategies that have worked for me.

Hitting behind the opponent - as soon as you see your opponent leave early for a ball in a rally, change direction of the ball to where he was previously.

Hit the ball deep with no pace - not only does this keep your opponent  from attacking the net, but it also keeps you in control of the point even if you hit down the middle.

On break point against, hit a slow, high kicking serve to the backhand and come in-  since high balls are difficult for both the one and two handed backhand, if your opponent has the advantage on your serve, make them hit the passing shot in a difficult situation.  Not only does it take all the pressure off of  you, but when the returner misses, it gets in his head that he missed his opportunity.

  3. make your opponent run for the ball... to do this you should put the ball away from the opponent but it should in!

good drop shot... after good ground strokes make a very very good drop shot..

    good service for aces!

no double faults as much as possible...

and last down the line shots!

  4. 1) Keep the ball deep (Aim so all shots much land at least pass serviceline). NOTE: A hard shot land in the middle of the court is not as good as an average shot go deep into your opponent territory.

    2) Easy shot - Lean in and hit it early down the line

    3) Hard shot - Hit with planty of margin above the net crosscourt

    4) Opponent close to the net - Topspin lob to the backhand side.

    5) Opponent in defensive position - Dropshot then give him a lob if we can chase down the ball. (Wear your opponent out so he no longer able to generate effective shots)

This can help you win a lot of matches for sure if you already have good techiques.

  5. Doubles - on service returns, I return powerfully to the non-serving opponent about 75% of the time.  This tends to make them nervous, and if I can get off good returns, I can hit a lot of winners.

In general, I try to hit to the weaker player on the opposing side as often as possible, even if they're closer to the net and a return by them could potentially be more dangerous.  It's worth the risk.

Singles - Tons of lobs to keep the opponent from coming to the net too often.  I'm pretty quick, so I'm willing to give my opponents time to line up lob returns, since no matter what they hit from the baseline, I'm likely to get to it.
