Strauss desperate to win Colombo Test – Cricket News Update

After losing the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Galle by 75 runs, Strauss and his men go into the second Test of the series with their world number one Test status on the line. The Poms have lost four Tests in a row this year, and a defeat in Colombo

This is the second time in two months that England’s Test number one status is at stake and Strauss stressed that they will do everything possible to preserve their position.
"We desperately want to win this Test match and make amends for what happened in Galle," said Strauss, whose individual form with the bat at the top of the order has come under scrutiny since the Galle defeat.
"We have not been as consistent as we would like to be, and now we have this final chance and salvage something out of the winter and go into the summer with some momentum,” he added further while speaking to media reporters ahead of the second Test.
Strauss has not scored a Test century in his last 45 innings. His last Test ton had come during the opening Test of the 2010-11 Ashes series in November 2010.
