Strauss eager to move on – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 Test skipper, claimed that his side is eager to move on from the humiliation of the first Test, which saw them lose to the Men In Green by 10 wickets.
It was a disappointing performance from the no.1 ranked team, which lost their first game of the New Year in embarrassing circumstances, failing to counter the threat of the Pakistani bowlers.
It was Saeed Ajmal’s off or mystery spin which took them by surprise as the bowler bamboozled his opponents with 7 scalps in the first innings before claiming a further three to end the match with a 10-for.
The Poms batting lineup failed to demonstrate their flair and guile which had seen them dismantle the likes of Australians and Indians in the past 12 months, showing frailties in adapting to the sub-continent tracks.
Strauss, although admitting that his team was caught off guard, was adamant that his team will move on from the horror show in the remaining contests.
“We win and lose together, you move on and it's a chance for us to show our resilience and character. I know we have those in abundance but we have to show that. Nobody likes losing that is for sure,” said Strauss.
The last time the Poms lost a five day game came in December 2010, where they lost the third Test at Perth against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 by 267 runs. However, they managed to pick themselves up, and take the series from the scruff of the neck, winning the next two contests
by an innings margin to reclaim the Ashes.
The skipper has compared the current defeat to the Perth clash and wants his team to take inspiration from the past.
“We treated it like an aberration when we lost in Perth and we will treat this as an aberration as well. But we do have to make sure we don't repeat those mistakes. One of the things you have to be, as an international cricketer, is honest with yourself.
You have to make sure you ask yourself the right questions and come up with the right answers before moving on," added Strauss.
