I have been taking care of a pregnant stray for about 3 months now. she had her kittens 2 weeks ago. I am concerned about her possibly getting pregnant again since I cannot take her in to get spayed yet. We have not been able to take her into our home...I have heard that she can get pregnant fairly quickly...any suggestions? She only has a litter of 2. I think she is VERY young herself.

Thank you for your answers!

  1. answer is yes and don't believe the c**p about knowing when a cat is in heat i have one that has two litters roughly 10 weeks apart and never knew from the very first heat that this cat was in heat . also having kittens that close together is a serious danger for the cat and for the kittens have lost mother cat and kittens this way before

  2. She can get pregnant soon after giving birth.   While it isn't ideal, she can get spayed while she's still nursing.  It might be the best option for you if you can't get her indoors.

  3. she will be able to get pregnant before her kittens are weaned, take them all inside and to the vet.

  4. Any thing is possible if she has hormone problems. If she goes into heat you will know it but a healthy cat will not go into season until the kittens are weaned. She can get pregnant if something happens to the babies, in about six weeks. If a tom comes around he will try to kill the kittens so she will come into season early.

  5. Make sure to keep her inside... so she can't breed again.

about when the kittens are 5 weeks or so take her in and get her spayed.

    good luck
