i have watched this stray cat for a long time now.

i feed him and give him water.

no one claims him.

so today i put a collar on him and decided i am going to go get a lic. and tag for him and name him Shy. lol since it takes forever to get him to trust you enough to come to you.

do you think anyone would take the collar off him before i get the tags on . i got to get them this week so right now he is out with just a collar.

i mean its one up from what he had, right?

  1. No one will bother the cat.  Get a collar with an expandable or breakaway band so that it won't trap and strangle him.  When you have the funds, DO NEUTER HIM.  You will prevent litters of kittens from suffering the hard-knock life he had before he found you.  Then consider microchipping him (cheap and painless) so that a collar will not be necessary at all.

Stray (feral) cats DO come around.  Some take more time than others.  I have 4 former ferals in my house.  One tamed at 12 weeks.  One tamed at once.  One took 6 months.  One has been with me for 9 YEARS and is still sketchy.

Don't give up on him.  He needs you.  And THANK YOU for caring for him!

  2. I think it is wonderful that you want to take him in.

Especially if he is outside, that collar has to be a Cat Safety Collar - where the buckle will release if the cat gets it caught on something - otherwise he could strangle.

If you really like him, take him to the vet to get him neutered and microchipped and then keep him inside.  He will love you forever.

  3. No i don't think anyone will take the collar off i mean i don't even have a collar on my cat nor a lic. so i don't really understand wat cha saying.

  4. yeah but the only thing that they want you to do is Neuter it. Thats all they want you to do.

  5. Yes!  Good luck 2 u and shy.

  6. i think that you should take him into your home, dont let him outside, i have 3 cats and they dont go outside. cats gets fleas/ticks and other stuff when they go outside, and that way you know where hes at. and you dont have to worry about the collar being taken off.

  7. Well, no one's taken it so far...and besides, if you were him, walking the streets and only getting food from one source everyday, who would YOU return to?

Shy's is an ADORABLE name, btw.
