  1. It's where you write whatever comes to your mind for like 10 or so minuets. You basically write down your train of thought. I do it allot. It helps get your creativity flowing.

  2. Yes, I think that xXRandom has a pretty clear defenition of it.

Personally I really like to use this technique myself and than after a while 'organise' it by summarising what I have written.

  3. In the case of a short-story or novel, stream-of-consciousness is the style used first by Virginia Wolfe. Instead of following a chronological and linear story, it tells the story more as it occurs to the narrator. ie: I start to tell you about my trip to the store. I mention passing a red car, which reminds me of a friend of ours who has a red car that I talked to last week, so I mention it. Then I get back to my original story. At the store, i see a display stand for an interesting product. I mention it you because you mentioned something a month ago that this product would be good for. Then you say something about how other people always come up with great inventions. I agree and talk about how I read an article once about a guy who made millions inventing something simple and wonder why I never think of those things. You agree. Then I get back to the original story. And so on.

Or another way it could appear is if I were walking through the store and seeing items that reminded me of people or events in the past, and I tell their stories as I see the items.

I hope that makes some sense.
