Okay well I'm thinking of getting a street bike (or a 'stunt' bike) not a bicycle. First off, whats a good first bike and wheres a good place to look. Also, what all do I need to ride it legally on the rode. I know a Motorcycle license, insurance, and have it registered. But just making sure. Oh and I'm in Georgia by the way. Oh one last thing, are all bikes manual transmissions, or are some automatic?

  1. Stunt bike??  Automatic??

this is going to end in somebody crying..  isnt it??..................

  2. Learn to drive a manual car first. it's better to have that clutch throttle relationship understood before you hop on a bike.

Craigslist.org is a great place to look for used bikes that are inexpensive. Are you looking to be a stunt rider or just a sport bike rider? You have the terminologies mixed up. Most stunt bikes are customized or what's referred to as a motard bike.

Mos stunters started on dirt and graduated to street bikes. So if you're looking to stunt, get a dirtbike. If you just want a sport bike to ride, learn on a ninja 500.

  3. You seem to know just what you need to ride legally. Motorcycle license, helmet, insurance etc.

I'm tempted to say no motorcycles have automatic transmissions, but that's not so. Honda has made a couple with 'Hondamatic', but they're pretty lame bikes and have never been very popular. There may be others.

I'd say you should learn to ride and shift, and it may be easier to learn to drive a car with a manual first. Or it may not!

Last March Honda introduced a new bike, with a automatic:

It's finally here!  Honda announced today the final production version of the unique and innovative Honda DN-01 "Sports Cruiser"!

Honda Motor, Co., Ltd. announced that sales of the DN-01 large sports cruiser will begin in Japan on Friday, March 7.  The price and delivery date for the UK has not been set, and it is not known whether the bike will be sold in the U.S.A. (Released here March 8, 2008).

The unique, low-styling body features a liquid-cooled four-stroke 680 cc OHC V-twin engine that resonates power and a new automatic transmission, the Human-Friendly Transmission (HFT), that delivers superior throttle response for comfort even on long rides, and simple operation with no need for clutch use, allowing sporty riding.

Featuring Honda's innovative lockup-equipped, infinitely variable hydraulic mechanical transmission, the HFT is claimed to deliver superb throttle response and a direct drive feel.

"The DN-01 is the result of thoroughly pursuing a style that is both luxurious and relaxing, easy and individualistic", claims Honda.  They said that the remarkable transmission makes the DN-01 easy to operate, while providing the sporty ride quality that is an intrinsic part of motorcycles.

In short, the DN-01 offers totally new sensations in sports riding unheard of in conventional sports models.  The relatively low 690 mm seat height offers a relaxed riding position, along with a comfortable passenger seat.  Ownership satisfaction comes from the elegant styling and the overall high-quality fit and finish.  The DN-01 is a sports cruiser with new value aimed at the discriminating adult rider.

The DN-01 takes its name from the phrase "Discovery of a New Concept," after Honda’s desire to develop a new concept motorcycle.  Since its exhibition as a concept model at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show in 2005, Honda has been working toward the market launch of the DN-01, efforts that resulted in the machine being exhibited at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show in 2007 as a model scheduled for release.

The DN-01 was developed as a large sports cruiser materializing a new concept, equipped with distinctive HFT, which is based on the automatic transmission in the 1962 Juno M85 and features characteristics optimal for a production machine, thanks to continuous development and advances in electronic control technology.

Check it out at the addy below.

There is also a cool video of it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcPLBM-Ea... very cool.

By the way, this is a street bike, what they call a sports cruiser, not a 'stunt bike' (whatever that is).

  4. All I can tell you is the same thing everyone else will. Kawasaki Ninja 250R, and depending on how tall / heavy you are, you may want a heavier, bigger bike, in this case the Ninja 500R. There are a few others out there but the ninja is aimed directly at beginners, thats where i'm headed. (it's also really inexpensive. insurance is cheap cuz parts are EVERYWHERE. retail price is low, so if you grow out of it and want more power you can flip it.)

  5. easy going said it right

Your a wreck waiting to happen

    Its been nice knowing you

  6. You can buy a Ridley or an old Hondamatic for an automatic. But all sportbikes are manual. If you want an automatic go with a scooter.
