Street Fighter x Tekken DLC due in July – Video Games Update
Capcom has announced that the downloadable content for Street Fighter x Tekken which was supposed to be exclusive to the Playstation Vita version will be available for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC versions on July 31, 2012.
This is that highly controversial DLC which was found to be already available on the disc on Street Fighter x Tekken when the game launched on March 8, 2012.
Capcom is getting a lot of hate from gamers recently because of its unethical business practices regarding game DLC and the re-release of games with all the already released DLC included in the final version. It was discovered that gamers with the PC version
of the game could unlock all the characters for free by just editing some game files.
Gamers all around the world are complaining that by releasing an incomplete game, Capcom is treating the gamers as beta testers for their product. There have also been many petitions online where gamers are claiming that they would avoid Capcom games if
the company continues to scam gamers by cutting out parts of the game just to sell it later as DLC.
Other developers, such as Platinum Games and the creator of the Tekken series Kenji Hamada, have also conveyed their disapproval of Capcom’s current strategy by saying that the company is scamming customers with the downloadable content.
The DLC for Street Fighter x Tekken adds 12 more characters to the game roster taking the total number of fighters to 50. The new characters include Blanka, Elena, Cody, Dudley, Guy and Sakura from the Street Fighter universe and Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan
Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack-X, Lars Alexandersson and Lei Wulong from the Tekken universe.
Capcom has also stated that the DLC will be accompanied with a free balance patch that will fix many of the balancing issues in the game and will also feature new finishers for some characters.
The DLC is set to be released on July 31, 2012 and will cost $20 on the Playstation Network and PC and 1600 Microsoft Points (MSP) on Xbox Live. It will be interesting to see what Capcom decides with all the negative reactions from gamers regarding their
DLC policy.
