Street Fighter x Tekken to feature Sagat, InFamous 2 release date confirmed, WET 2 cancelled
In a flurry of announcements prior to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which takes place in June, a snapshot of Capcom’s upcoming Street Fighter x Tekken was revealed with one of the favourite characters of the Street Fighter series, Sagat, among
others.
Sagat was a cult icon as the kick boxing/Muay Thai fighter, who was second only to Bishop as the toughest boss to play against in previous titles, though his role has steadily diminished over the past few years.
Along with Sagat, Tekken’s overweight but fierce brawler, Bob was also visible among iconic characters such as Chun Li, Guile and Ryu.
The game is hoping to bring the huge fan base of the two 2D arcade fighting games together with Capcom optimistic of the title’s performance upon its release. A recent statement by the publishing giant forecasted Street Fighter x Tekken’s sales to be around
the 2.5-million-unit mark, making it their main title in terms of being a source of revenue for the fiscal year.
Capcom is working on Street Fighter x Tekken while Namco is working on the reverse title, namely, Tekken x Street Fighter based on the Tekken control scheme and gameplay.
InFamous 2 release date confirmed
According to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, the highly anticipated InFamous 2 will be released across Europe on the 8th of June, which is just under a month from now. However, fans in Ireland, Germany and the United Kingdom will not be able
to get their hands on the game till the 10th of June.
InFamous 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed and commercially successful PlayStation exclusive title InFamous, which put the players into the shoes of an almost comic book like hero who received super human powers, mostly to do with electricity,
as he set about finding out who destroyed the city.
The game received rave reviews and helped boost sales of Sony’s consoles and the sequel is being advertised as being even better than its sandbox predecessor.
Players in the United States will be the first to get their hands on the title as it releases there one day before Europe, which is the 7th of June.
WET 2 cancelled
It seems that WET 2 will not be hitting shelves this year, or in fact anytime in the foreseeable future after a CV for Ian Cormier, the main person behind WET, was found indicating he had been fired.
Behaviour Interactive also laid off a number of other employees, as they look to restructure themselves, which means that Eliza Dushku, the heroine of the first title, will not be making a comeback after last year’s announcement of a WET sequel.
