Question:

Street Hockey Goalie Equipments

I was wondering, what are some basic or advanced equipments a ball hockey goalie should need? Inline and Street. So far I have/use are:

-Goal Pads

-Goal Helmet (Has a throat guard)

-Catcher/Glove/Trapper (different names of the glove)

-Blocker

-Chest Protector

-Cup

-Volleyball Knee Pads (sometimes my knee hits the ground instead of being cushioned in the pad, a solution to always having my knee in the pad would be nice also :D)

-Elbow Pads (I hate landing on my elbows sometimes, or even having my elbows rub the ground cause it hurts sometimes)

-Hockey Practice Jersey

What else would I need that won't affect my game play, but not cost a whole bag of cash to purchase? Is having this on good enough?

  1. my god what the h**l is wrong with kids these days. When we played road hockey for the longest time we had 1 set of pads 2 blockers and trappers and one mask. We even dug nets out of the snow bank.

A real street hockey goalie should need the following:

    1 mask

    1 set of goal pads

    1 trapper

    1 blocker

    1 stick

    1 net

1 ball either tennis (which seemed more durable for us) or street hockey ball though if you live anywhere that it gets cold in the winter be mindful to have more than one we shattered quite a few back in the day.

If your worried about getting hurt too much put an extra layer of clothing on you will be surprised how much easier it is to move with less equipment.

Anything more and your not doing it right. and remember every bruise, split lip, black eye, welt, lump on the head, sprained hand arm knee hand neck,  groin shot, etc. is to be worn with pride.

  2. you might want skates. ive found that not using skates makes it harder to drop.

  3. Nick beat me to it as far as chest/arm protection. Even in ball / road hockey, protect your shoulders and back, as elbow pads, if worn seperately, won't come down to your glove and blocker.

For your chest protector, I would look at the Tour GTL (discontinued so you should be able to find it pretty cheap) or the Franklin Street Extreme

Oh and a well-ventilated jersey can really help. Make sure you try it on with pads on.

You're better off with in-line style knee pads with plastic protection than volleyball ones

  4. what brands do you have for pads and you could sell your chest protector and elbow pads and get an ice hockey chest protector which has full chest/arm/elbow protection and is heavier

and they make leg pads with things on the back with straps and c**p but those mite be more expensive  well you should be set for it then

what bout blocker and glove brands or is it same brand
