Street legal dirt bike age in North Carolina?

In North Carolina what age do you have to be to ride a street legal dirt bike/ dual purpose bike on the road? Is it the standard 18 like for a regular motorcycle or is it 16?

    If you're between 16 and 18, you'll need a full provisional license and a legal guardian signature to apply for a learner's permit.

  3. I would imagine it would be treated like a motorcycle. Considering that dirt bikes and four wheelers are not allowed to be ridden on the road. I can't remember if my brother was 18 or not when he got his motorcycle liscence...

    Contact the DMV about it, they would know for sure.
