Why are street poles round?

Well, in some places its cheaper than putting the cables underground, they hang lights on them, there are electric cables, and they don;t get flooded easily.

Well, the wood ones are round because trees are round, and it would be silly to make a tree square just to make it into a pole anyway.  And the steel ones are round because rounded shapes are more aerodynamic than flat shapes, so round poles stand up to wind better than square ones.

depends on what the buyer wants, just like anything else.they are also easier to make.& wire.
