Streetlight goes out when you walk under it?

Have you ever had a streetlight go out when you walk under it, sometimes even the same one on more than one day? What causes that?

yes i have had it happen a few times, im not really sure what causes it, I always thought it was a bad bulb or something!!

If you look at the link Deenie gave you, it should give you some idea of it.....

It started happening to me many years ago, but i never really took much notice, until 2002 when i went through a real stressful period, and i noticed it started happening soon as i walked under them, they would start to flicker...Then stop soon as i walked away from them.....Then the next one would start to flicker soon as i stood under it...and so on and so on.....

Ive demonstrated it with so many people, and with so many street lights...Ive even had my friends and family stand under them, with no results...then soon as i stand under them, theyll start flickering, soon as i walk away they stop, if i walk back under it, it will begin again, and we have tryed every light, in so many different places.....It has something to do with your energy....When my energy is high...it has the most effect...when im feeling much relaxed it wont happen, or maybe a real light flicker....It has nothing to do with old bulbs or re gasing...as we have gone to new estates, where all the street lights were brand new...and i was able to affect every single one.....

Next time you notice it happens to you, take notice of your mood, your energy...even get out and stand under it and see what happens...then walk away, see if it stops then go back under it again and compare each time....if you can effect one, you should be able to affect more than one...experiment with them like i do, and have people with you...just stand under it for a while, and if it starts to flicker, walk away, see if it stops...like it will for me, then see if the same one starts again once you stand back under it, or walk to the next one and see if that will flicker as well.....Its not paranormal, i used to think it was....but somehow our body energy affects the electricity....i find it entertaining, and so do my friends.......

the light ballast is almost shot causing the light to fricatate on and off every few minutes whether you walk by or not .

Some of the lights are on timers.

I would say the filament is probably over heating and the bulb is nearing its life span.

If you could affect a light bulb that stands on a pole over 90 feet tall, then every electrical appliance in your home would be fried.

I would say it is more along the lines of being coincidental than anything.

Railroad Dave has the right answer. The fact is that almost all streetlights flicker anyway, for various reasons. The trick is that you only notice the streetlights close to you and ignore or don't see the ones farther away. This results in the illusion that your presence is what is causing the flickering.

This is all there is to it, but some people really want to believe they have some spooky power so they continue to insist that it's their "energy". Superstitions don't die easily, especially when coincidence or confirmation bias lends a hand.

Your energy.     A good friend I have & I went to a mall together & on one particular day as we were walking through the parking lot to our car.....at least 3 car alarms went off in cars that we had just walked by we did not even touch the doors.     It was our energy that set them off.   It was funny.
