Question:

Stremme in the #12 for 2009...?

Not much of a surprise as he was the leading runner for the #12 since Newman announced his defection to Stewart Haas Racing... My burning question is how do you think the #12 team will fair next season w/out Newman behind the wheel? I like Stremme, and hope the best for him and that team.. but I seriously think we are only talking about a top 25 team, MAYBE a top 20 team. Anything better than that next season is highly unlikely in my books..

Stremme in 2009 = 0 wins, 21st in points.

  1. 1. Expect the unexpected!

    2. Only time will tell

  2. Well the last few years Newman hasnt shown us anything.  I think you are right though.  He will not get any wins.   ANd probably a top 20 car at best.

  3. your estimate sounds accurate. You're putting 14th place driver with a 27th place crew and a 24th place team. Not a great combonation

  4. He'll finish 19th in points, 0 wins, highest finish will be 8th.

  5. I think he may be a good fit there.  What I'm wondering though is since Ryan isn't going to make the chase, the #12 is locked in to the top 35 (pretty much), will we see Newman have an early departure from Penske to go and start getting to work on the Stewart-Haas cars for the final 5 to 10 races and maybe try and get the cars into the top 35.

I dont know, just throwing a little speculation out there.

  6. I like David Stremme but I think he is a good Nationwide series driver not a cup series quality driver. He had kept RWI's #64 in the top ten until here lately. Right now Penske is so far behind on the COT it ain't even funny. I know, they did finish 1st and 2nd at the Daytona 500 but that's been it. Penske needs to put some of his focus on Nascar, his Indy car teams are doing great. I agree with your assessment, 0 wins and a top 20 in points. mediocre just like this year.

  7. They will do average next season.

He needs to get acclimated to this team.

  8. good prediction
