Stress Fracture of femur: Are they going to put me back in a full leg cast?

I have been doing lots of rehab to recover from a brokenleg this winter. I thought the pain was natural and tolerated it for that reason. Now an MRI has shown that I have a stress fracture of my femur. The ER doctor splinted my leg and put me on crutches until Thurday when I can see a specialist. Am I going to have to go back into a full leg cast? I spent three months in a long leg cast this winter so I am dreading the thought. If I have to be put in one how long will I have to wear it?. The ER doctor was very non committal and my getting the serious fall aparts when he mentioned the possibly being put into a long leg cast did not make him want to continue the discussion.

  1. If it is a fracture and not a full break, they may not. I fractured my leg last year and no cast.
