Question:

Stress fracture and kung fu.?

I've had stress fractures in both my legs in the tibia area for over a year now, they just aren't healing. Anyway, would it be okay to start kung fu, and just work through it? Would this make it worse, or could it even make it a little better?

  1. Stress fractures should either be fused and healed by now or not fused at all. If you had xrays done recently and they still show stress fractures, I wouldn't recommend kung fu or any other impact sport because that will shatter your legs.

Here's what I recommend instead. Supplement your diet with more calcium and Vitamin D. Do not drink milk, most milk are processed and not good for you. I recommend eating a lot of broccoli or other vegetables high in calcium. For Vitamin D, that's simple. Just stay outside and get 15 minutes of sunlight per day. Your skin produces Vitamin D in the presence of sunlight.

The second part. Start doing swimming. It's low impact and you also get your exercise. You need some form of exercise to help build strength to your bones. After a year of doing both, get yourself re-evaluated and see if your body has rebuilt itself.
