Stressmanagement takes a surprise victory in the Coral Maiden Stayers 575m race
Stressmanagement took a surprise victory in the 575 metres Coral Maiden Stayers Open Race at Romford on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. His victory earned him a cash prize of £500.
The winning greyhound has had some mixed races in recent times, but made a lot of improvement in the Coral Maiden Stayers Open. He just managed to win the race by a neck’s distance.
Stressmanagement, trained by C A Grasso, completed the race distance in 35.75 seconds, after entering from trap number one. He had a starting price of 11 to 2, and surprised one and all with his winning run.
The winning greyhound is the son of Hondo Black out of Westmead Aoifa, and was born in October, 2008.
Second place went to Ballintine Molly, who had a better starting price of 3 to 1, but just fell short by 0.03 seconds in the end. She entered the race from trap number five, and completed the overall distance in 35.78 seconds.
Ballintine Molly is the daughter of Nobooth for Gary out of Monks Folly, and was born in September, 2009.
The face favourite, Rebellious One, only managed a third place finish, after popping out form trap number four. He had a starting price of 7 to 4 and clocked a time of 35.86 seconds.
Rebellious One, trained by M L Locke, is the son of Head Bound out of Goodlucknow and was born in February, 2009.
Further down the order, Tyrur Brian completed the race in fourth, after breaking in from trap number two. He also had a starting price of 11 to 2, which was the same as the race winning dog.
The fourth placed dog ended the race in 35.98 seconds. He was trained by G Oswald, and is the son of Hades Rocket out of Tyrur Margaret. He was born in July, 2008.
J J Coleman’s trained dog, Ballybrook, failed to challenge the front runners and ended in fifth. He had a starting price of 4 to 1, and completed the total distance in 36.12 seconds, after going in from trap number three.
Ballyhoe Fifty completed the order of finish, covering the race distance in 36.48 seconds. He was trained by J J Luckhurst, who would have been dejected with the outcome of the race.
This race certainly proved to be a very good one for Stressmanagement, who might get a better rate next time around.
