Well for our yellow 1st belt in tae kwon do we have to know One Step Sparring # 4 which you need to do a roundhouse kick to the face, first you step with your left foot behind your right and round house kick to the face. Well the way I'm posistioned my kicks wont go over waist. But whats wierd I know it's not the side kick muscle that does it, because my side kicks are about 2ft over from where the roundhouse is.

  1. try lean back a bit

  2. Your feet are supposed to be more than shoulder length apart. First chamber your leg, to where it is bent and your leg is striaght out, but your shin is going down. twist to your side, with your leg up, then do a side kick, but make it one motion.

For streches, you can sit down on the ground, put your legs in front of you, but have them in a V shape, (strattle) then try to put your face on the ground, but dont bounce.

  3. You need to pivot your base foot the same way you would when you're doing a side kick. Just keep stretching and ask your instructor what you're doing wrong.

  4. the best stretches in my opinion are the ones where you have a partner helping you out..

my favorites were the one where you sit down and split your legs out and try to reach out in front of you, but have a partner opposite you with his feet inside your legs to push them out, and at the same time grab your hands and pull you forward and down.

another good one is to have your back to a wall, then put your leg on a person's shoulder and have them slowly stand up and bring your leg up.

do those for a while and you'll have better flexibility
