Strike Action to be active in the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap
Quite a few out of the fourteen competitors for the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap have already raced and won at Dundalk. The three-year-old and above will take their chances over the five furlong race for taking back the €8,970 prize money. The three-year-old bay filly, Strike Action, stamped her dominance at Dundalk right when the season dawned.
Pivotal’s daughter ended as an honourable runner-up in the www.dundalkstadium.com 3YO Handicap on 2nd May, 2012 at Dundalk over seven furlongs. She lost the by 1 ½ lengths as the race was won by the favourite entry, Elusive In Paris, who had N. G. McCullagh riding.
The bay filly got on to chasing the leaders after racing out of the sixth stall, ranked seventh with half way down and notched on to the third position with the final furlong approaching. The second position in the final furlong was not much help as it could not impact the decisive win for the leader.
The second seasonal outing of the three-year-old had her entered as the favourite in the Hibernia For Steel Maiden on 12th July, 2012 at Dundalk over six furlongs. She remained at par with the associated expectations by landing the race by ¾ lengths.
With jockey, Wayne Lordan onboard, Strike Action held on to the pace and managed the sixth spot by the time the line-up had raced half way through the track distance. Closed in and stayed on strong inside the final furlong, led over the last 100 yards and set Feathers And Bows, as the runner-up.
After racing the first two outings at Dundalk, the David Wachman trained became part of the line-up of the Follow Leopardstown On Facebook Handicap on 16th August, 2012 at Leopardstown over six furlongs.
She did not end with the most devastating ranking but did fall short on what she had recently achieved. The Card Bloodstock bred finished third behind the winner, Bonnie Acclamation, who edged past, Precious Dream, by 1 ½ lengths.
The field in which she has to compete today is talent packed and the bay filly will become the mount for jockey, W. J. Lee. The duo will set out for the challenge from the fourteenth stall.
